Bebo

Definition

Bebo is a social networking site founded in 2005. The company was founded by Michael Birch and his wife Xochi Birch. Bebo was acquired by AOL in 2008 on March 13, 2008 for $850 million. Two years later AOL was planning to shut down or sell Bebo. In result it was sold on June 17, 2010 to Criterion Capital Partners (the amount for which it has been sold has not been published). The people voted for Bebo as best social networking site of 2006. Bebo is considered to be the new social networking phenomenon for high school and college kids.

The above graph represents the visitor hits spanning from the beginning of 2010 to the beginning of 2011. As you can see there is a gradual drop in the number of visitors throughout the year which finally comes to a standstill in 2011 showing the total of 1,5 million of lost visitors.

Similarities of applications

There are an array of applications that are used in other popular social networking sites such as Orkut and Facebook. The example of this could be the Raven Wood Fair which is played by thousands of people on Facebook.
