Virtualisation

What is Virtualisation?

In terms of computing virtualisation can be considered the running of more than one operational systems virtually on the same pc/laptop.

Generally virtualised systems are used to test out programs and software that is meant to run on there, this testing allows programmers to see the amount of resources that a particular program takes when running on a fully functional system.

Types of Virtualisation

There are various levels of virtualisation that occur in computing they range from hardware virtualisation to network virtualisation but they all go to show the same thing which is the creation of a virtual system to allow the testing and manipulation of programs. This allows programmers to push their creations to the edge whilst making sure that they work within the boundaries specified by the given system.

Why is Virtualisation useful?

As stated before Virtualisation allows you to run various systems on one machine without compromising the original performance of the given system(s).
