Word Censor

Definition

To censor is to filter or block material, usually written, audio or video that is considered inappropriate. [1]

Word censor therefore refers to written material. It censors words or phrases that are considered badly used by individuals. An example of word censoring is on forums or social networking websites when someone writes about things that may offend in a post sometimes that post is removed or the word is removed. [2]

These days phpBB is a very popular feature with the purpose of word censoring online. It provides you with an empty list of word you don’t want to see online. This is particularly useful for parents trying to filter the words their children are exposed to. [3]
